A Combined Parent-Child Group Program for Children Aged 7-10 with ADHD Part 1
New Zealand · CPD points & talks · Psychologists
This talk offers practitioners training in the OnTrac Parent-Child ADHD Program, a structured, manualised, six-session intervention developed for children aged 7–10 and their caregivers. Grounded in psychoeducation and practical skill-building, this program supports families to better understand ADHD and develop strategies that enhance functioning across home, school, and social settings.
Delivered in a combined group format, each 2-hour weekly session integrates three key modules:
- Psychoeducation: Understanding ADHD, executive functioning, emotional regulation, and comorbidities.
- Adaptive Thinking: Cognitive restructuring, values-based action, emotional literacy, and social thinking.
- Practical Coping Skills: Time management, organisation, communication, and routine-building.
The program prioritises collaboration, structure, and early intervention to improve children’s capacity for self-regulation, task initiation, and problem-solving. Workbooks and therapist guides support fidelity of delivery, while mentor involvement enriches the group experience. The OnTrac programme is presented over two talks on Calabash. This talk is part one in a 2-part series.
